Ryan Molstad – Founder of Packers365
I am lifelong Packer fan who now resides in Minneapolis, MN. I was born in Ladysmith, WI but grew up in Wausau, WI, attending D.C. Everest Sr. High School (’98), not too far from Titletown, USA. I received a B.S. in Sports Management from the University of Minnesota and have lived in Vikings territory ever since.
Over the years I have met and worked with many professional athletes (mainly Vikings players) and professional teams (Timberwolves) and the agencies that represent them (Imani Sports Agency) and market them (Brewer Sports International). I have seen what many professional athletes are like on and off the field in different settings. These are the same players that I helped procure marketing and endorsement deals. It’s amazing the amount of free stuff athletes get/want even though they’re already making much more money than you and me. I have also talked to many NFL GM’s and Player Personnel Directors including Ted Thompson and Reggie McKenzie (Packers) and Rick Spielman (Vikings) while trying to solicit company free agents.
Furthermore, I assisted in the recruitment of many collegiate football players who we thought had a chance to play and make an impact in the NFL. This was by far my favorite aspect of working in sports. I love breaking down player’s game film and I still do to this day. Some of the players I helped scout/recruit included CB Tracy Porter (Saints), DE Kroy Biermann (Falcons), DE Jason Jones (Titans), FB Marcel Reese (Raiders), RB Lex Hilliard (Dolphins) DT Nick Hayden (Panthers) and DT Trevor Laws (Eagles); all of which are making an impact for their respective teams.
Another such player was Jordy Nelson. Coming out of Kansas State, we thought we might have a chance at recruiting Jordy at one point, but after looking at the tape decided he would probably go much higher than initially expected. As a Packer fan I knew he fit the mold of what Ted Thompson looked for in a WR/”Packer People” prospect: great size/speed ratio, sure hands, good route running, YAC ability, could contribute in the return game, and high character. Watching Jordy on tape actually had me hoping the Packers drafted him. Sure enough, the Green Bay Packers drafted him with their first pick, the 36th overall pick (Round 2, pick 5) in the 2008 NFL Draft.
Basically, I wish I had Ted Thompson’s job.
Because of all the different ways I have been involved in collegiate and professional sports I am able to approach this site from several different perspectives. It is my hope that you find the content insightful and interesting and you all become loyal guests and contributors.

Ryan: my family grew up next door to your dad in Hawkins. My family (especially my dad) was also very good friends with the Plana’s. Your mom shared this site on her FB page, and I think it’s awesome. I shared it with my mom, 2 brothers and sister. Keep up the good work!!
Thanks Sandy! I hope you and your family keep coming back for more Packers insight. I appreciate any and all support. And sorry it took me awhile to comment back.
